How Do You Play the Game How Many Words Can You Make From Merry Christmas
Do you know how many words you can make from Merry Christmas? Over a thousand, which is pretty crazy if you ask me. Naturally, no one is expected to guess that many!
- Start with a Timer. To play this fun Christmas game you simply start a timer for 1-2 minutes for adults and 3-5 minutes for children.
- Write as Many Words as You Can Come Up with. Then see how many Christmas words you can make in that amount of time. Whoever comes up with the most real words wins the game!
- Challenge #1. To increase the difficulty for any age you can add in a twist! After you're done, do the challenge a second time! Whoever gets the most new words wins!
- Challenge #2. Pick a letter all the words have to start with. So, for example, all the words have to have the first letter of "M".
While there are only 20 spaces for words on the front you can always turn the page over to write more.
One Rule: You can only use each one of the letters once. So, for instance, there is only one M in the phrase "Merry Christmas". Therefore you can only use one M in any one of the words.
Note: This game is age appropriate for most children in first grade and up. The only caveat is the ability to read and write. If you have younger children check out one of the other great activities listed at the bottom of this post.

Even after a few tries, I doubt I'd get much higher than 5 letter words myself! At least not in 1-2 minutes. Merry Christmas has fourteen letters so technically you could go all the way up to a 14-letter word if such a thing exists without repeating letters.

These kinds of puzzles can be a great activity if you need your kids to sit still and concentrate for a longer period of time. Because most of the time they are not so simple! However, I tried to pick words that were simpler so you don't all feel defeated before you start.
There are 50 different words between the two of these options, 25 on each page.
