How to Make a DIY Wonderland Glass Cloche Display
Ready to create your very own Wonderland? In this section, we’ll show you how to craft a DIY Glass Cloche Display that captures all the whimsy of Alice’s adventures. Let’s get started on this enchanting journey!
Step by Step Instructions: DIY Wonderland Displays
These very simple glass cloche displays requiring very few supplies and just a few minutes to put together. The beauty of them is their simplicity.
Step One – Download, Print, & Cut out the Free Mini “Scenes”
I have miniaturized these original illustrations to just the right size for the set of 3 glass cloche displays linked above. I added tabs to help them “stand” like paper doll stands.
Download the free printable with the link below. Then print, for best results use 80 lb. cardstock.
Simply cut out of the illustrations what you don’t want in the “scene” using an X-Acto knife. Then fold at the bottom so the tabs stand up.
These digital downloads are free to my subscribers for personal use. The download link is inside the box above. Once you subscribe with your email address you get instant download access to not only this PDF file but all of the PDF files in my Subscriber Library.
Step Two – Set Up Your Scene
Each one really only takes about five minutes if your hot glue is warmed up. Let’s get to this really quick and fun set up!
- Start by finding a wood slice that fits inside your glass cloche comfortably.
- Then arrange your foam mushrooms. I chose to use some of the very small wood slices to add some height to one mushroom. Also, making the others shorter by cutting off a slice from the bottom with my X-Acto Knife.
- Before you glue, ensure your “paper scene” placement will fit.
- At this point you can start gluing your pieces down, wood slices, and then mushrooms. Finally glue down your paper “scene”.
- Then add some glue to a spot and fill it with moss. Continue until all the top of the wood slice is covered.
- At the very end add your twinkle lights! I chose to wrap them around my mushrooms and then put the cord out through the bottom of the glass. The “battery” housing fits nicely under these cloches.
Twinkle lights on.
Twinkle lights off.
Note: I didn’t add twinkle lights to the very smallest cloche. And chose to add a sprig of cedar branch in as a fake “tree” instead of a mushroom. I like it! I also added a small twig.
Also, using a wood slice to build your “scenes” on makes it easily removable. Which makes these glass cloches reusable for the next cherished focal point!
